Coaches of the Western Trails Conference have announced their selections for the all conference basketball teams and Kimball senior Mike Daum was named the boys' Most Valuable Player of the year. Senior team mate Jake Reader joins Daum on the all conference first team while juniors Colton Stull and Michael Ferguson were given honorable mention.
Mitchell's Kady Lower was named the girls' Most Valuable Player. Kimball senior Shelby Vogel and sophomore Danika Daum were selected to the all conference first team with senior Kelly Green and junior Jessica Hanks given honorable mention.
The balance of the boys' all conference team include David Schuler-senior from Bayard, Bridgeport seniors Kaleb DeCora and Jaime Gonzales along with sophomore Quentin Baxter, Hemingford juniors Colt Foster and Matthew Wood, and Mitchell seniors Bo McVay and Jamie Fegler. Boys' honorable mention include Bayard juniors Justin Baird and Bryce Hargens, Bridgeport sophomore Wyatt Pankowski and junior Jason Amaties, Gordon-Rushville senior Chaz Piper and sophomore Ryan Schwarting, Hemingford junior Brady Turek and senior Kyle Kaman, Mitchell seniors Adam Schlothauer and Nick Harriger, and Morrill junior Jorge Lars and sophomore Jordan Rohde.
Other girls on the all conference team include Bayard senior Megan Stuart, Bridgeport junior Megan Dudden, Gordon-Rushville freshman Josie Perez, Hemingford senior Precious Campbell and freshman Brooke Turek, Mitchell junior Kady Lower and senior Taylor Peters and Morrill senior Kiley Guerue.
Honorable mention went to Bayard senior Haley Sauer and junior Chellani Parriott, Bridgeport junior Kassidy Kildow and Olga Aguillar, Gordon-Rushville juniors Hali Sahr, and Denie Jacobson, Hemingford seniors Kaitlyn Bergfield and Cali Rohrbouck, Mitchell juniors Aspen Reifshaeider and McKenaa Zulkowski, and Morrill seniors Madi Schafer and Dylainee Peacock.
Bridgeport was the boys' conference champs this past season while Kimball was the conference tournament champs for the 8th consecutive year. Mitchell won both titles for the girls in 2013-14.
Coaches of the South Platte Valley Athletic Association did their voting this past Sunday night with Daum and Reader making the SPVA boys' all conference team and Stull honorable mention. Shelby Vogel was all conference for the Kimball girls with Daum and Hanks honorable mention.
