Charles Ferguson closes out college career

Charles Ferguson, former Kimball High standout student/athlete, closed out his Hastings College basketball career a couple weeks back and was given special recognition at the final home game of the season as a senior in his final home court appearance.

The PA announcer introduced him in this manner. "Affectionately known as 'Chuck', Charles Ferguson has been named an NAIA Scholar Athlete and all NAIA Academic All American in 2012. An education major who wants to pursue a career in coaching, Charles has an excellent basketball mind and a true love for the game. Chuck is a tireless worker who has a 'team first' mindset."

This truly describes Charles who entertained the Kimball fans during his high school days, on the court, the gridiron, the baseball diamonds and in track and field. He was a rare type athlete who could pitch a baseball game either left, or right handed. He graduated from Kimball High in 2009, and then took his talents off to Hastings College where he helped the Broncos to winning seasons, including this past year's special season. The 6'4" forward was in his fifth year at Hastings after being awarded a medical redshirt last year following knee surgery. He plans to continue his studies at Hastings one more year and receive his Masters degree. To become an Academic All-American, a student-athlete must be a starter or key reserve player for his or her team and have at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA. Our congratulations go out to Charles Ferguson, the son of Kerry and Jeri Ferguson, of Kimball.
