Cecil R. Dixon


Cecil R. Dixon, 92, of Kimball, died at his home in Kimball on Thursday, January 16, 2014. Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held at a later date. The services for Cecil have been entrusted to the Cantrell Funeral Home.

Cecil Ray Dixon was born in Ohio on September 28, 1921, the son of Martin and Lydia (Spencer) Dixon. He was raised and attended school in Ohio. While growing up he helped his family on the farm. He joined the Army and served his country during WWII, being stationed in Douglas, Wyoming. On August 19, 1945 he was married to Lydia Lipps in Wheatland, Wyoming. The family lived in Wheatland until 1954 when they moved to Worland. He continued to help with the family farming. He enjoyed helping his wife raise a family of seven children. Cecil also worked many jobs to help take care of his family, including being an auto body mechanic, working at the Safeway store in Worland and also running a service station for a number of years. He loved to tinker on a variety of different things and could fix almost anything that needed a repair, he worked on anything from bicycles to typewriters. Cecil and Lydia moved to Kimball in 2008 to be closer to family due to medical needs. He loved to garden, spend time in the repair shop, spending time with family and friends and the many trips that the family took to Ten Sleep, Wyoming over the Fourth of July to camp and fish. He loved music, especially the polka, waltz and to any country music that was being played.

Survivors include his wife Lydia Dixon of Kimball, NE; son Steven Ray Dixon of Worland, WY; daughters Carolyn Ann Sisk of Pine Bluffs, WY., Connie Marie (Ernie) Huerter of Kimball, NE., Susan Jane (John) Williamson of Cheyenne, WY., Cindy Renee Siebert of Gillette, WY and Bonnie Jean Herren of Edmonton, Canada; brother Donald (Margaret) Dixon and sister Ruby (Glenn) Masters; 15 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son David in 1999, brothers Melvin and Robert; sisters Opal, Hazel, Betty, Norma and Mary Lou; grandchildren Sean Duane White, Andy Dixon and Amber Barkell and son-in-law Wayne Herren.
