Alice Louise Baker

Alice Louise (Fondell) Baker was born in Dawson, Minnesota on December 1, 1924, the daughter of , Selma and Clarence Fondell. She was raised and attended school in Dawson and graduated from the Dawson High School in 1942. Alice continued her education at North Park Junior College in Chicago, IL and St. Cloud State College in St. Cloud, Minnesota.  She taught in Minnesota before moving to Cowdrey, Colorado where she met fellow teacher, Earl Baker whom she married on August 14, 1953. Earl and Alice taught several years in the Denver area before moving to Kimball in 1974 with their two children, Randy and Reba.  They purchased the Ridgewood Trailer Park and Earl became the Administrator of Kimball County Manor for 18 years. Alice also spent time working at the Manor. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Kimball. Alice and Earl enjoyed traveling all over the United States in their camper, many summers with their children and in their retirement, they were also members of the  Lodgepole Valley Camping Club.  Alice was an avid reader and continued this interest well into her retirement.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Earl, and in July of this year, her daughter, Reba Pearson.  Left to  mourn her loss are the following:  Son, Randy, of Sidney, NE,  brothers, Ralph(Gertrude) of Eagle River, AK, Paul (Eileen) of Burnsville, MN and son-in-law, Brian Pearson of Casper, WY. Grandchildren Jennifer Baker and Joshua Baker of Sidney, Ne, Billy Masoner of Atlanta, GA, Brandon Masoner, Latricia Beall, and Jeremy Masoner of Scottsbluff, NE and many great grandchildren. Alice was loved by many and will be missed dearly. Very devoted friend, Gayle Perkins, is also acknowledged for her loving care as well as the staff of the Kimball County Manor.

Alice L. Baker, 88, of Kimball, passed away at Kimball County Manor on Friday, November 8, 2013. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Kimball with Pastor Carla Gunn officiating. Burial will be in the Kimball Cemetery. Friends may sign the book at the funeral home in Kimball on Friday, November 15, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. visit http://www.cantrellfh.com to view the book of memories and leave condolences for the family. Memorials may be given to Kimball County Manor or Trinity United Methodist Church. The services for Alice have been entrusted to the Cantrell Funeral Home.
