Jeanette "Jan" McGuire

Jeanette “Jan” McGuire, 73, of Scottsbluff, entered into rest on Saturday, August 31, 2013, at Golden Living Center in Scottsbluff with her family by her side.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 4, 2013, at Living Stones Christian Church in Gering. A reception will follow for friends and family at the Steel Grill dining room. Jan was cremated at her request. Please wear casual dress and flip flops in honor of Jan.

Jan was born on December 30, 1939, in Kimball, Nebraska to Frances and Fred Belk. Jan grew up in Kimball and later married Dale Swinford and to their union, Rhonda was born. Jan lived many places in her life including: Kimball, Nebraska; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Miami, Florida; and her final resting place, Scottsbluff, Nebraska.

Jan is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Gaitan; brothers, Jim (Nancy) Belk of Craig, Colorado, and Don (Cheryl) Trofholz of Cheyenne, Wyoming; and sister, Deb Albertson of Scottsbluff. Jan loved being a grandma to Jon, Robert, and Kaitlyn and great-grandma to Skiila all of Miami, Florida. Jan is also leaving behind many nephews, nieces, and good friends.

Jan was preceded in death by her mother, Frances Belk Trofholz; father, Fred Belk; uncle, Dave Wilkinson; husband, Mick “Skippy” McGuire; and sister-in-law, Louann Belk.
