Mabel "Snookie" Grossnicklaus (Brumbaugh)

The heavens rejoiced and welcomed home Mabel “Snookie” Grossnicklaus (Brumbaugh) on July 30, 2013. Snookie is now sitting at her Jesus’ feet.

Mabel Irene “Snookie” Grossnicklaus (Brumbaugh) was born February 18, 1951, to Clay and Irene Brumbaugh (Thesing-Hendren) in York, Neb. She grew up in her beloved home town of Stromsburg, Neb. She was Miss Nebraska Cheerleader of 1968. She graduated from Stromsburg High School in 1969.

She married her high school sweetheart and love of her life Gene Grossnicklaus December 12, 1970. Three children born were born to this union: Nathan, Wade and Thea.

Her children and grandchildren were her greatest achievement and joy in life. She was truly a person of compassion and kindness, always seeking out the best in people and looking for good in every situation. She had an incredible gift with words, spent years studying the Bible, loved current events, and was an amazing source of wisdom for all who came into contact with her.

Snookie is survived by her husband Gene Grossnicklaus of Merryville, La.; her three children, Nathan Grossnicklaus of Merryville, La.; Wade (Nancy) Grossnicklaus of Hermosa, S.D.; and Thea (Mark) Lee of Powers Lake, N.D.; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three sisters Judy (Tom)Varco of Fort Collins, Colo.; Lonnie Crosby of Crete, Neb.; and Carol Peterson of Stromsburg, Neb.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father Clay Brumbaugh and mother Irene Brumbaugh.

There will be a Celebration of Life Gathering for Snookie's family and friends on August 25th at 2:00 in Dix, Neb. at the fire hall Community Room.
