Bernadine K. Reader, 68, of Kimball, died at her home in Kimball on Monday, August 4, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Kimball with Pastor Carla Gunn officiating.

Burial will be in the Kimball Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Friends may visit http://www.cantrellfh.com to view the obituary and leave condolences for the family.

Memorials have been established to Trinity United Methodist Church for audio/video equipment for the fellowship hall. The services for Bernadine have been entrusted to the Cantrell Funeral Home.

Bernadine Kay Reader was born in Kimball on March 30, 1945, the daughter of Delbert and Maxine (Taylor) Gehrke. She was raised and attended school in Kimball and graduated from the Kimball High School in 1963. She then studied teaching at Kearney State Teacher’s College and received her teaching degree in 1967. Bernadine was married to Penrod Reader on January 29, 1967, her high school sweetheart. They moved to Omaha in 1967 and Bernadine taught school.

They returned to Kimball in 1973 and she resumed teaching business education at the Kimball High School in 1978. She retired in 2009. She enjoyed family trips and spending time with her grandchildren. Bernadine attended all of her grandchildren’s activities and supported them in all that they were involved with.

She was a great hostess to her family and friends, she was very giving and always did for others.

Survivors include her son Brad (Danielle) Reader of Kimball, NE; daughter Tiffani (Mark) Anderson of Kimball, NE; brother Richard (Sharon) Gehrke of Kimball, NE; grandchildren Tori, Jacob Penrod, Alex and Kate Reader, and Meighan, Kiersten and Trevor Anderson; aunt Gail Gehrke and uncle Ken Taylor; sister-in-law Carla (Rick) Kirby of Kimball, NE., brother-in-law Dave (JoAnn) Reader of Kimball, NE., and Tom (Janice) Reader of LasCruses, NM. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister Jackie (Jim) Stevenson.
