Alvin Klemt

Alvin Klemt, 84, of Kimball, died at Kimball Health Services on Tuesday, June 25, 2013.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, July 1, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball with Pastor Ken Mars officiating.

Cremation has taken place. Friends can visit http://www.cantrellfh.com to view the obituary and leave condolences for the family. Memorials have been established to the Kimball County Manor. The services for Alvin have been entrusted to the Cantrell Funeral Home.

Alvin Klemt was born in Shaw, Colorado, on July 1, 1928. He was the youngest of 10 children born to Earnest and Ruth (Penney) Klemt.

Alvin and Ida (Beam) Klemt were married on March 1, 1949, in Akron, Colorado. To this union, six (6) children were born. They enjoyed traveling together and were often accompanied by various family members.

Gardening occupied most summers. Family holidays created many memorable times and traditions. Card games, motorcycles, restoring vehicles, and barbequed foods were enjoyed by all.

In his early years, he was employed in farming. He worked in the home construction business for 3 years in Sterling, Colorado, before starting work in the oil field.

Over the years, he followed the oil patch to Sterling, CO; Sidney, NE; and settled in Kimball, NE.

At the age of 32 years, he started A&A Oil Field Construction with a friend: two years later he became the sole owner of the business which he operated for 35 years until he retired in 1988. For many years he had contributed in numerous ways to the Farmers Day Celebrations.

He served as a sponsor for various baseball teams. As a sports and activities attendee, he supported his children’s interests by being consistently present during their performances. Hunting, snowmobiling, fishing, boating, gardening, and puzzles have been his hobbies over the years.

Survivors include his children Linda (Charlie) Schmunk of Casper, WY., Ernie (Shannon) Klemt of Kimball, NE., Gene Klemt of Laramie, WY., Debbie Klemt of Midland, MI., Ann (Mark) Stahla of Pensacola, FL., and Jim (Tresa Cook) of Kimball, NE; grandchildren Eric(RaeAnn)Schmunk of Bakersfield, CA., Ryan(Amy) Klemt of Denver, CO., Darren (Stephanie) Schmunk of Burleson, TX., Sarah (Nate) Schneider of McCook, NE., Chris Klemt of Laramie, WY., Paul (Summer) Stahla of Pensacola, FL., Joseph (Jennifer) Stahla of Centralia, IL., Crystal (Jeff) Cook of Sheridan, WY., Elizabeth Tippett Stahla of Grand Island, NE., and Jimmy Klemt of Kimball, NE; great grandchildren Katherine Kjendal Schneider, Emily Kjendal Schneider, and Abigail Schneider all of McCook, NE., Madison Stahla, Kylie Stahla, and Lauren Stahla all of Pensacola, FL., Isabel Schmunk, Madison Schmunk both of Bakersfield, CA., Fisher Schmunk of Burleson, TX., Emma Klemt and Jack Klemt of Denver, CO., Jordan Klemt, Alyson Klemt, and Brooklyn Klemt all of Laramie, WY., Constance Tippett and Noah Stahla both of Grand Island, NE; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Ida, of 63 years, three brothers Ernest Walter Klemt, Harry (Bud) Klemt and Ed Klemt; five sisters, Dorothy Peake, Margaret Chaney, Lucy Bates, Irene Stoltz and Hazel Hull.
