Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First

Library News

The library display cases contain a collection of ‘topsy-turvy’ dolls or two-headed cloth dolls. Most of the collection is variations of Little Red Riding Hood, Grandma and the wolf in various sizes and colors. The other dolls include Oriental, Jamaican, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, and the Wizard of Oz characters.

Thinking about buying a new or used car? The library has 2013 (and past years) Fuel Economy Guides.

The High Point ShutterBug Photography Club met and set some dates for the year. Coming in February is the first photo contest. The photos will be on display at the library for Viewer’s Choice Voting. Watch for flyers with rules and deadlines around town. A huge showing of photographs of all varieties would be fabulous.

The Library, as a depository for written history, will gladly accept donations of area and personal history that would benefit the preservation of Kimball and Banner County History. Ideas would include old High School annuals, diaries, photos of buildings and prominent events, written notes and letters about the community, etc. The collection we have now includes some photos, microfilm, history books and books written by Nebraska authors, and much more. Work has begun to get these items cataloged. Most of the information is available for research, but may not be taken out of the library

Classes being offered are Basic Computer Class for Beginners, e-mail and/or Facebook, and Kindle/Overdrive. Sign up at the library. The first class is filling up quickly. And mark your calendar for the book talk by C. M. Wendleboe of Wyoming on February 7.
