Woody's Under New (And Familiar) Ownership

“Welcome back,” Mayor James Schnell said to Darlene and Gary Goff as they stepped forward to comment to the City Council December 19 on their recent liquor license application for Woody’s Liquor.

The mayor’s comment stems from the fact that, though Darlene and Gary Goff have recently purchased Woody’s Liquor store which sits at 208 East 3rd Street in Kimball, it is not the first time they have actually owned the business.

“We had the business for about 11 or 13 years before and then we closed it out for six,” Goff said.

According to Darlene, they plan to be very accommodating to the public’s personal preferences in the items they carry and do the best they can to cater to customer’s needs.

“I’ve had some people locally ask me if I would bring in special items for them. I told them I’d be more than happy to. We plan on trying to help anybody that wants something. If they’ll buy it, I’ll stock it. I don’t have any problem with that,” Goff said.

The Goffs were granted a recommendation for approval on their liquor license application by the City Council with Darlene also being approved as Corporation Manager for the business.

“I’m glad to see the doors staying open and to see someone coming into it that knows the business,” Council President Kim Christensen said.
