Ortiz Named New City Administrator

Mayor James Schnell announced the choice for the new City Administrator of Kimball at the City Council meeting the night of Tuesday, December 4.

“We conducted our meeting on November 26th, with the interviews of the four finalist candidates and came away from that with input from the Board of Public Works, Shortie Kiefer too and Jim Merryfield as a candidate who had won election and hadn’t been seated yet,” he said.

“Everyone was on the same track of what we came out of those interviews with. With that, I am announcing Daniel Ortiz. He and I have been in conversation. He has accepted the position, and we are in contract negotiations which are all but wrapped up here except for signing the dotted lines,” Schnell continued.

Ortiz will be coming to Kimball to look at homes in the next week with his first day of work being January 7, 2013.

The Council also decided upon a new City Council President with Kim Christensen taking over the position after the departure of Kim Baliman.

Christensen was nominated by Jim Merryfield and unanimously approved by the members of the council.
