OSHKOSH – Potter-Dix’s Coyote football team remained unbeaten with a 36-28 victory over Garden County in Oshkosh, spoiling the Eagles homecoming celebration and showing they’re still one of the best teams in D6 football. Garden County opened strong and took an early lead, but the Coyotes were able to take a lead in the third quarter and held off the Eagles for the win. POTTER – Potter-Dix’s Coyote Football team stayed unbeaten with another big win over Creek Valley, 72-0. The winless Storm had no chance against the high-powered Coyote offense, and the game was effectively over when the Coyotes put up 40 unanswered points in the first quarter. Potter-Dix’s Coyote football team stayed unbeaten with another dominant win, this time over the Banner County Wildcats on Friday, September 22. The Coyotes traveled to Harrisburg for the contest, and now get a week off before resuming their schedule by hosting the winless Creek Valley Storm on October 6. Potter-Dix’s Lady Coyote volleyball team has been struggling against the better teams they face while beating the lesser teams, and gaining experience the whole time with their young squad. The past week was challenging for the Lady Coyotes, with a triangular on Tuesday, September 19, tournament play on Saturday, September 23, and an away match against Banner County sandwiched in between. Good morning this beautiful fall morning in Nebraska! Hope we have this kind of weather for the next 90 days, and then spring! Everyone is still pretty busy and farmers are still trying to get wheat planted while beans, corn and beet harvest is still ahead. Whew! For this upcoming week, Thursday, September 21st, there will be a home volleyball game at 1 p.m. verses Community Christian. CRAWFORD – Potter-Dix's Coyote football team continued its strong start to the 2023 season, breezing past the Crawford Rams on the road Friday, September 1, by a final score of 69-31. Senior quarterback Brayden Kasten led the Coyotes again, completing 8 of 14 passes for 96 yards and three touchdowns, while rushing for 211 yards on 11 carries and scoring three touchdowns on the ground. DALTON--There are questions about the Potter-Dix Coyotes after the graduation of star player Luke Kasten, but none of them were answered Friday night as the Coyotes again breezed through the Minatare Indians, 73-0 at Combs Field. The Potter-Dix FFA served harvest meals to busy farmers last week, about 100 lunches in all. In the top photo, Alex Engstrom picked the right time to bring a load of wheat to the FVC elevator in Kimball and received lunches from Potter-Dix FFA member Micayla McConnell. Good morning, nice to have a few cooler days this week. The combines are still all over the place, some fields are finished and some have not started. Be careful out there, the roads are narrow and the harvest equipment is wide! I know of one fellow that went under a header because there was no where for either of the vehicles to go, so up and under! Wheat harvest has begun in and around the Kimball area. The recent days of 90-plus degree weather "gets things dried out," according to Frenchman Valley Coop's Hope Hinton. On Monday, cutting is happening "all over" north of Potter, north and south of Kimball, and south of Dix, she said. Hinton predicted that they will be in the harvest mode until the middle of August because of the large area that FVC covers. For the last four years, the Panhandle area sports scene has been dominated by the best athlete in the region, Luke Kasten of Potter. The Potter-Dix 2023 graduate burst on to the scene four years ago as a freshman, leading the Potter-Dix Coyote 6-Man football team to a resurgence that in following years saw undefeated seasons and chances to play for State Championships. The 12th Annual "Battle of the Border" Nebraska/Wyoming 6-Man Football All-Star game was played Friday night at Chadron State College, and the Nebraska team started hot and had no trouble putting away their Wyoming counterparts by a final score of 52-16. The area’s Class D schools sent their NSAA State Meet qualifiers to Omaha for competition on Friday and Saturday, and that included a set of qualifiers from Potter-Dix. The Coyotes and were led by senior Luke Kasten’s 17th place finish in the 100 Meters and 16th place showing in the 200 meters. A capacity crowd gathered in the Longhorn gym on Saturday, May 13, to watch the Kimball graduating class of 2023 receive its diplomas. Potter-Dix School graduated 15 seniors at a commencement that began at 2 p.m. and was conducted in front of a large crowd of family, relatives, and friends. Mitchell's Cael Peters won the Kimball Invite on Thursday with a solid game of 35/35=70 at Four Winds Golf Course. Jace Nelson from Gordon-Rushville shot a 35/36 for a 71 to take second.
