Several layers of shingles were removed and new roofing installed on what was once the original Kimball High School. The repairs were paid for by a combination of fundraisers and endowments and Hays Roofing, owned by Shane Hays, of Kimball, was granted the job following an open bid procedure. The company finished the large job in just one week. A Plains Historical Society representative said that the roof on the historic building, built in 1921, had never been replaced.
