At the regular Kimball County Commissioners meeting on Tuesday this week, Mark Masterton of the Nebraska Intergovernmental Risk Management Association presented the commissioners with a longevity award for participation in NIRMA since becoming a member July, 1, 1988. The One Act at Kimball High School progressed very well throughout the year, competing at Western Trails Conference, South Platte Valley Association and district competitions in recent weeks. The One Act cast this year consists of two seniors, three juniors, two sophomores and one freshman. The play is Albert Hitchcock’s, “The Thirty Nine Steps,”a live radio play. The Kimball High girl's opened the basketball season with a 44-20 win over Morrill in the Kimball Tournament held this past weekend, but suffered a 69-42 loss to Dundy County-Stratton in the championship game Saturday night and are 1-1 going into this weekend's play. Kimball High got the winter sports season underway this past week with their wrestling team going to Bayard for dual action on Thursday and to Akron, Colorado on Saturday for a tournament. Here at home, the basketball teams played host to a four school tournament with divisions for both girls and boys. A local bar and grill under new ownership threw in a twist for the month of No Shave November. Chute # 7 hosted the First Inaugural Beard and Mustache Competition on Friday, Nov. 30, to end No Shave November.
