Kimball veterans are raising money for the newly erected memorial in Gotte Park. The space in front of the flagpoles will eventually be filled in with memorial bricks honoring the county’s veterans. VFW Post 2243 is selling bricks in two sizes, smaller bricks will sell for $50 with larger bricks sold for $75, each in memory of or in honor of a Kimball County Veteran. Winter is upon us and drivers and reminded to travel with safety in mind. Reduce speed of travel. The City of Kimball has a new tool meant to keep drivers mindful of their speed of travel, an electronic speed indicator. The indicator was a gift from the Panhandle Public Health District and it is currently placed on Highway 71 near Seventh Street. The Firearm Deer Season that opened this past weekend kept the Nebraska Game Wardens busy checking in kills at at the Sportsman's Liquor in Kimball. It also kept owner Lisa Wangler busy filling out the required forms that she keeps as through Sunday evening she had checked in 153 deer including 128 bucks and 25 does. The Western Trails Conference released their football and volleyball All Conference selections for this season this past week. Kimball garnered several honors including senior Zane Anthony being named the 8-man Offensive Player of the Year! Caleb Schaeffer led the young Longhorns on the mats last Thursday, Nov. 8, in Hemingford with a first place win and 20 team points on the board. On Saturday, Nov. 10, several students and adults from the Kimball Community helped collect over 2,100 pounds of non-perishable food and household items that were donated by members of the Kimball community for the local Food Pantry. Students from the Kimball Interact Club, Junior High Stepping Stones, and the local Scouts all helped in the project.
