    The Kimball/Banner County Farm Bureau held their annual meeting at the Kimball Event Center Thursday, October 14. Members of the Kimball/Banner Farm Bureau piled into the Meadowlark room of the event center where they enjoyed a dinner prepared by the event center staff before the meeting was called to order.     James T. Dietz of Newcastle, Wyoming slipped away peacefully in his sleep on October 17,2013. Jim was born August 13, 1942 in Kimball, Nebraska, to Herman and Maxine Dietz. He attended school from kindergarten through high school in Kimball County. In high school he played football, ran track, was a band member, sang in the choir, participated in FF A, served on the student council, and was active in his church. Survivors include: Son, Greg and wife, Sheila Taylor of Stratton, Nebraska,Son, Kenton and wife, Nancy Taylor of Greensburg, Kansas Sister-in-law, Charlotte Hickman of Kimball, Nebraska Brother-in-law, Duane and wife, Clarice Schmidt of Lincoln, Nebraska.     A dramatic 28-27 win over Bayard in the regular season final contest Friday night at Keith Staehr Field evened the Kimball High Longhorns season out at 4 wins and 4 losses and sends the Horns back to the State Playoffs for the third consecutive year.     Kimball High School hosted the 2013 Western Trails Conference Volleyball Tournament this past Saturday and the Lady Longhorns captured third place with Mitchell the champions and Bridgeport finishing runner-up. Mitchell, the number 1 seed received a first round bye, then swept their way through the tournament winning over Kimball in 2 sets 25-19 27-25, and Bridgeport 25-11 25-22.
