    Kimball celebrated its 88th annual Farmer's Day over the weekend as the community celebrated and honored its everyday heroes. The celebration kicked off Friday as families gathered at the movie in the park, while others chose to attend the Kimball Theater Group's production of Superhero Sanitarium.   • Bushnell must replace signs to comply with federal standards

    The Village of Bushnell is seeking funds for new signs. The village must get new up to date dual-sided reflective street signs by January of 2015 for traffic signs and by January of 2018 for street signs in order to comply with current federal standards. The federal law requires that all villages and cities have highly reflective signs that allow emergency vehicles to easily locate addresses. This also includes traffic signs.     Kimball benefited from the help of a AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC) over the past two weeks. The group came in and lended its time and efforts to help with Oliver Reservoir and also to assist Keep Kimball Beautiful (KKB). The AmeriCorps NCCC is a program for men and women between the ages of 18 and 24.     Dan Carlson, 71 of Potter, Neb., died Monday morning, Sept. 29, 2014 at Sidney, Neb. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m, Friday, Oct. 3, in the Prairie West Church in Potter with the Rev. The talented senior earned All Western Trails Conference honors this past week by finishing in the top ten medal group shooting 108 to take 5th place at Bridgeport, this year’s conference hosts.     Kimball High senior Ryan Muneio picked up two more medals in cross country running this past week as he ran 13th at Ogallala with a time of 18:46 and was 12th at Scottsbluff in 18:55.     A tough week for the Kimball High Volleyball Team as they went up against three Class B schools and suffered three losses to the larger programs that leaves them now with a win-loss record of 7-8.
