At age twenty one, the Selective Service System, also known as the “Draft” caught up with Bill Cross of Camden, Arkansas. Sooner or later, the system usually won out. The Potter Days celebration has traditionally been held on the Labor Day weekend since 1936. In addition to honoring Grand Marshalls Arlie and Mary Ann Kasten, special recognition is also being devoted to Al Combs and the Mads (Larsen) Larson and Ane Kristine Larson descendants. The ladies golf program at Kimball High School opened their season on Aug. 22 at Sidney and senior Lila Moore led the team with a total of 133 for the course. Teammate Maddie Cook, a freshman newcomer to the team, followed with a score of 148, Raven Johnson scored 152 followed closely by Natasha Selves with a 154 and Leisha Casimiro scored 175. Running a new course caused a bit of trouble for the Kimball High School cross country team as they opened their season at the Riverview Golf Course in Scottsbluff on Thursday, Aug. 24. Though senior Kaden Adrian led the Kimball runners through the course, he was unable to complete the race, according to coach Tiffany Johnson.
