    With Bushnell Day fast approaching on August 17, the attention of residents of Kimball County has started to fixate on the small village and the festivities that will abound.   • High Point Welcome Center preparing for ribbon-cutting event on August 16 at 5:00 p.m.

    The High Point Welcome Center has been overloaded with visitors in the first month of its existence, according to County Tourism Director Jo Caskey. "It's been relatively nonstop. After the end of the first four full weeks, we've had 942 visitors through from 42 states and nine foreign countries," Caskey said.     Henry Heeg, who will kick off his senior year at the Kimball Jr./Sr. High School this fall, has proven to be a vital component for the Kimball golf program this past year.     The editorial staff of the Observer knows very little about showing animals. At least, that was the case before last week’s Kimball-Banner County Fair. After a crash course, a baptism by fire of sorts, both members of the editorial staff can safely say they know a great deal more about everything that goes into this process.     Jack Robinson, 57, of Wasilla, Alaska, formerly of Kimball, Nebraska, passed away August 3, 2013 after a long battle with cancer. Jack was born to Frank and Kitty (McDonald) Robinson on November 10, 1955 in Kimball. He graduated from the Kimball County High School in 1974.     John Hillman, 99, of Grover, CO passed away August 8, 2013 in the Hospice of Northern Colorado at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley, CO. He was born July 13, 1914 at the farm house of his parents, Henry and Dora (Schneider) Hillman east of Grover, CO. He attended school at Highland through the 8th grade, and then went to work for his dad herding sheep and farming.
