    Kimball Health Services acquired the Best Plumbing, Heating and Cooling building just to the east of the site of what will become the new Kimball hospital. On Aug. 1, Kimball County Hospital dba Kimball Health Services purchased Best Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling Lots 9, 10, 11 and 12, Block 1, Clarkson's Addition to the City of Kimball, for the purchase price of $300,000.     The public hearings for the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent Deployment and Minuteman III Decommissioning and Disposal began in Ft. Berthold, N.D., on July 19 and continued in Minot, N.D, Great Falls, and Lewiston, MT, until July 28. Kimball, New Raymer, and Cheyenne had public hearings on Aug. 2, 3 and 4.   • City Water Tank Work, Sales Tax Addressed

    The City of Kimball Water Department said it planned to conduct routine maintenance on the water tank on Thursday, August 11. Due to the process, there may possibly be a small residual chlorine taste and/or smell for approximately one week. City officials said the water will be safe to use for drinking, cooking, and cleaning as usual. The City of Kimball apologized for the short notice.   • Kimball Airport Runway Getting 280-Day Break, Facelift

    The Kimball Airport runway will soon be closed for 280 days. During those 280 days, the 6,199 feet of the only runway will be getting a facelift. The runway and taxiway will be closed, however the helipad will remain open. According to Ryan McElroy, the chair of the Kimball Municipal Airport Authority Board, the runway will get a 6-inch overlay of concrete, which will be the full length of the runway and 75 feet wide.     Supply chain issues continue to plagued the HVAC project at both Mary Lynch and the Kimball Jr/Sr High. The Kimball School Board heard at its regular August meeting that neither building is expected to have air conditioning by the start of school, although according to Jacob Hurla from Community Building Solutions, Labor Day is the next target date for the arrival of key components for some of the HVAC systems.     Dennis Lee Stricker, of Gering Nebraska, died peacefully August 2, 2022, at the age of 69, after a brief battle of pancreatic cancer in Ft. Collins at UCHealth Poudre Valley Hospital. Dennis was born on April 11, 1953, to Charles and Anna Stricker in Torrington, Wyoming, where he also graduated high school in 1971. Dennis married Lucinda Allbee in 1972 in Torrington. From that union their daughter Amy was born in 1973. Amy married Nicholas Williams in 1996 and has four sons Alec (Kala), Aric, Nathan and Noah. Dennis spent over four decades in...

    After being stepped on by a bull and suffering a broken femur (thigh bone) in January, River Mossberg staged a comeback and received a winning score of 87 on his ride at Pine Bluffs Trail Days Rodeo. His dad, former Kimball County Commissioner Brandon Mossberg, said River has "only been on a handful of bulls since" his accident.
