  • Accident at Nadine Street and Route 30 in Kimball between pickup and bicycle leads to boy's hospitalization

    A young boy was struck by a pickup truck at the intersection of Route 30 and Nadine Street in Kimball last week stopping traffic for over half an hour, as first responders treated the victim.     With the summer season in full swing, it is once again time for the Kimball-Banner County Fair Days. The 95th Kimball-Banner County Fair Days are set to take place between August 6 and August 12th in Kimball. According to Doug Lukassen, Secretary of the Kimball County Ag Society and President of the Nebraska Association of Fair Managers, the fair will offer several new events this year including a pedal tractor pull event the evening of Sunday, August 11.     An AmeriCorps crew arrived in Kimball this past week in order to aid Keep Kimball Beautiful in several projects throughout the city with the hopes of helping to improve the curb appeal in order to attract visitors to the region.     Many athletes think their regular in-season schedule is rough. Classes, social calendar, practices and games all amount to a pretty tenuous schedule. That being said, some choose to go the extra mile and make their chosen sport a year-round experience. Kimball High School senior Mike Daum is one of those select few.     Wesley Eugene Brothers Sr, age 78, of Gillette, WY went home with the Lord on July 15, 2013 surrounded by his family. Wes was born August 18, 1934 in Kimball, Nebraska to Floyd and Hilda Brothers. He was raised and educated in Dix, Nebraska and graduated from Dix High School in 1953. On April 18, 1955 Wes married the love of his life Sharon Ann Teare, together they raised a family of seven.
