    The Kimball Public Schools board of education met for its regular board meeting on Monday, July 13. While the regular business meeting was conducted in quick fashion, of special notice was future financial savings to the district. Much of the reason is that 14 certified staff members either retired or left the system, and they were replaced by only seven positions.     The Kimball Banner County Chamber of Commerce is temporarily a chamber with no office space. According to Kimball-Banner County Chamber board member Annette Brower, Century 21 Realty has purchased the building where the chamber was located The chamber is, in Annette’s words, in the state of a “temporary hiatus.” Although there is no building to call home right now, the work of the chamber continues, according to Annette. Located just east of Highway 71 in central Banner County, Justin Stauffer said that they are currently preparing machinery for harvest. “We had a little hail, but nothing too significant,” he said.     A local drug bust July 10 led to a search warrant and an arrest of Daniel Valdez of Kimball. According to an arrest affidavit, at approximately 12:31 p.m., a call was transferred to a Kimball police officer from a unknown caller. The officer stated in the affidavit that the caller informed him of a drug deal and drug use taking place in the 700 block of Webster street and that the person(s) participating were on probation through the State of Nebraska.     Rides are up in Kimball County, as well as Deuel County, for the Kimball County Transit. Christy Warner, County Transit Administrator, addressed the Kimball County Commissioners on Tuesday, July 16, at their regular meeting regarding the increases this year.
