    Kimball Police Department is offering a $500 reward to anyone offering information that leads to an arrest for the recent incidents of vandalism in Kimball. In the early morning hours of Thursday, June 22, unknown individuals vandalized several properties in Kimball, including personal and City property.   • Welcome Center sees an influx of visitors across the Panhandle

    The High Point Welcome Center was busy this past Thursday, June 22, as the first of five tour groups rolled through town. This report was given to the Kimball County Board of Commissioners at their recent meeting, Tuesday, June 20. Four more tours are scheduled, two in July and two in September, according to Kimball County Tourism Director Jo Caskey, who added that these groups will be served a farm to fork lunch from BeeHaven.     The Kimball Board of Education heard a report from High School principal Eugene Hanks regarding random drug testing for any student participating in Nebraska School Activity Association activities. “This isn’t a ‘gotcha’ thing, it is something to give them another reason to say no,” Hanks said. “It could be non-extracurricular, if their parents choose to sign the form, they would be in the pool.     The Kimball City Council approved the replacement of electrical panels at the local waste water treatment plant at a cost of $42,000. Late in May an electrical storm caused damage to the panels, according to City Administrator Dan Dean. “We have since been directing the waste into our lagoon,” he said. “We would like to eliminate that as quickly as possible, but we are not discharging – which is critical.” Two bids were received from Municipal Automation & Control, the company that has been a supplier to the City of Kimball for years.
