  • City concentrating on cleanup of 'nuisance properties'

    The City of Kimball recently sent out several letters asking residents to remove abandoned and junk vehicles from their property. Along the same lines, the city is concentrating next on nuisance properties or those properties with excess garbage and refuse or an overgrowth of grass and weeds.     Four years old may seem a little young to join the police force, but the Kimball Police Department's newest member is already an experienced officer. Xana, a 4-year-old Belgian Malinois, was recently added to the force through a K9s 4 Cops grant, according to a recent press release from the Kimball Police Department.     As the summer warms up, Kent Matsutani hopes to be able to replace the toilet paper more often in the Oliver Reservoir restrooms. Matsutani, who recently retired from the National Resources Conservation Service, spends four days a week at the site as summer help employed by the South Platte Natural Resources District.     The Kimball Public Library received two grants were used to purchase educational tools, including a Leap Frog 3D printer. "I read some really good reviews of it, but after the first month or so I wished I had gotten a different one," librarian Jamie Carpenter said of the printer.   • Power line work will be done in Kimball on June 24

    On Wednesday, June 24, contractors and the Western Area Power Administration (WAPA) will be working on the city’s power line that feeds Kimball’s electricity. Work is tentatively scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m. and is expected to last into the afternoon. During this time, the city’s power plant will be generating electricity for the city. The city does not anticipate any interruptions in electrical service or outages, but they may occur in unique or extreme circumstances.
