    As the pool wrapped up its first few days of Summer 2017 business, everyone was pretty busy. The first day open the facility recorded a total of 78 swimmers, though management was forced to close early when some swimmers forgot to shower before getting in the water.     Summer brings out the weeds in western Nebraska and Jeff Lampmann, Inspection Specialist for the Nebraska Department of Agriculture joined Kimball County Weed Superintendent Rick Wangler at the recent Kimball County Board of Commissioners meeting, June 6, to review the scores for control of noxious weeds in Kimball County.     The parishioners of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Kimball have worked incredibly hard to make the outdoor space at the local church clean and inviting. The all-volunteer effort included planting 20 perennials, as well as, annual blooms around the church and rectory. All the trees on the property were trimmed and new mulch was spread – 72 bags of mulch. Volunteers also mow and trim each week to keep the beautiful lawn looking its best....

    Kimball faced Ft. Morgan during the Gering tournament on Sunday, June 11. The young Legion team was defeated 11-1, but several players made key improvements. Brady Kilgore hit a single then added a triple to the Kimball board. Colton Meilke and Cole Henton each hit a single.     The 2017 Kimball High Boy's Golf Team had a record setting season, and you can expect more of the same for the next two years it would appear. The Longhorns had two tournaments cancelled due to bad weather, but swept through their season with eight wins, including capturing the championships of both the Western Trails and SPVA Conference Tournaments as well as the C-5 District and was just one place shy of going undefeated on the year, finishing runner-up at the State Tournament!
