    Vehicles left unattended on public property in Kimball must now be moved in a shorter time frame. The Kimball City Council voted at its June 2 meeting to consider vehicles abandoned if left unattended on any public property within the City of Kimball for more than six hours without a license plates or a valid in-transit sticker. The definition of vehicles also includes motor homes, minibikes and all-terrain vehicles.   • State nixes poultry, birds from fairs and all other events

    Due to a recent avian flu outbreak, the Nebraska Department of Agriculture canceled all poultry events across the state for the remainder of the year. This includes local, county and state fairs as well as swap meets, exotic sales and live bird auctions, according to the news release. According to local University of Nebraska Extension agent Aaron Berger, the decision was made with input from consulting veterinarians.     Good things happen in grandma's kitchen. Tessa Shaw, a native of Kimball, grew up watching her grandmother bake and decorate cakes for others.     The Kimball Board of Education looked at several policy reviews at Monday’s meeting. Though they voted to clean up the graduation section of the handbook at the meeting, the board will further review the graduation requirements at a future meeting. “This is graduation requirements.     All roads lead to Harrisburg is the theme for the 126th annual Banner County Historical Day, which is set for Saturday. The Banner County Volunteer Fire Department will host a pancake feed at the fire hall beginning at 7 a.m., and they will be accepting a free will donation.     In support of early learning and literacy, the Kimball Public Schools Foundation has been providing books to area youngsters since May 2008. Books are offered to children from birth to 6 years of age, and in the first month of operation 11 books were provided. At the end of the program’s first year, 48 books were mailed to children in the district with a total of 361 books provided at that time.
