    Members of the community of Dix were up in arms about the need to remove a damaged building in downtown Dix, but then demolishment of the structure began Tuesday. The former multistory commercial building at 123 Myrtle Str. sustained substantial wind damage in early April during a wind storm and suffered a large hole in the south side wall.     Road Superintendent Randy Bymer updated the Kimball County Commissioners on Tuesday about road issues within the county, and then the discussion turned to the purchase of one or the possibility of purchasing two new road graders. In the update, Bymer reported that two truck drivers are hauling rock for a chip seal project.     The grass hasn't had a chance to grow much under Betty Elliott's feet. At 78, she is still doing work for the community, her church and "the girls." Four years ago, Betty moved into Park Terrace on the east edge of Kimball. Just after the height of the pandemic, she decided that there was a need for a craft group at Park Terrace.   • Oliver Stocked With 13,500 Fish

    On Tuesday morning, Oliver Lake was stocked with 12,000 walleye and 1,500 tiger muskie from the Nebraska Game and Parks in less than an hour. Ted Bartels from the Nebraska Game and Parks brought his load from the North Platte Hatchery and delivered fish to Oliver, Winter Creek, Minatare and Big Lake Alice.     The Kimball boys basketball program participated in this summers 2022 Bridgeport Boys Team Camp June 1st and 2nd. There were 22 high schools from 4 different states competing in JV and Varsity divisions. Teams from Custer SD, Sturgis SD, Gillette WY, Lusk WY, Strasburg CO, Fleming CO, McClave CO, Ainsworth NE, and other area schools were there and we got to experience some really good basketball.   • Summer Football Has A Potter-Dix Flavor This Year

    The annual Wyoming-Nebraska 6-Man Shoot Out All-Star game was played on Friday in Chadron, and the Wyoming squad was able to outlast the Nebraska team in the highest scoring contest of the 11-game series. Potter-Dix’s Thomas Muldoon was a defensive standout during the game, recording many tackles and pass disruptions. He also was used on kickoffs and as a receiver.     Banner County Historical Day has resumed after a two-year break due to the pandemic. The fun-filled day started last Saturday with a pancake feed by the Banner County Volunteer Fire Department. After a belly full of pancakes, kids and adults participated in the Banner County Historical Day Fun Run of either 1 mile or 3 miles. For months the locals had been preparing for the parade.
