    The Community Clean Up Day organized by the senior civics class as a "thank you" to the businesses and the community for their support over the past year was held Wednesday afternoon, April 24.   • Rollover Deadly Near Bushnell

    A deadly passenger vehicle crash near Bushnell caused one fatality on Sunday, April 28, at approximately 3:15 p.m. According to the Nebraska State Patrol, a passenger vehicle was traveling westbound on I-80 east of Kimball when the vehicle veered off the road and rolled multiple times. The driver, identified as Alisha Pitford, 36, and passenger, Alexander Schanaman, 23, both of Cheyenne, were ejected from the vehicle with no use of seat belt restraints.     The Kimball Interact Club does one International Project each year and this year the Club participated in the Purple Pinkie Project which raises money towards the eradication of polio. Polio has no cure. It is a crippling and potentially fatal disease and children under the age of 5 are at greatest risk. However, polio is easy to prevent by a vaccination that costs very little.     In 2000, Mrs. Laurie Janicek started a tradition with the Mary Lynch fifth graders, and it has continued for the past nine years since 2010 - the tradition is playing and winning at the Stock Market Game.     Douglas A. Onigkeit passed away peacefully on February 2nd, 2019 in Spokane, Washington in the presence of dear friends. Brady Kilgore came through with a win in the 110 meter hurdles at the Best in the West Track Classic plus running 3rd in the 300 hurdles and taking 6th in the high jump.     Brady Kilgore did not disappoint and kept his win streak in the 110 meter high hurdles alive by winning at the Best in the West Track Classic held this past week at the Scottsbluff High School Stadium site. The talented Kimball High senior won his favorite event in 15.15 seconds and came from behind to get the win in a tight race among the top three.     The first of a four pool tournament series concluded late Saturday night, April 27. It was a benefit for Cindy Warren, who is formerly of Kimball. With entry fee money and donations from both Chute #7 and Beer and Loathing, nearly $1,000 was raised.     Chase County won both the boys and girls divisions of the SPVA Conference Track meet held this past Friday at Sutherland. Kimball finished 3rd in the boys division and 5th in the girls division. Chase County had 194 team points to win the boys team title with Perkins County runner-up with 99.5, followed by Kimball with 69, St. Pats 49, Sutherland 43.5, Bridgeport 38, and Hershey 34.   • Junior High Tracksters Visit Pine Bluffs

    The Kimball junior high tracksters took part in the Pine Bluffs Invitational this past Friday and turned in some good efforts. No team scores were available, but both the boys and girls had some good individual efforts. In the boys division, Uziel Flores won the shotput with a best mark of 39’6” and was 6th in the discus at 100’10”, both personal records.
