    Preparations are underway for the Kimball High School All-Class Reunion. The twice a decade event will be held July 3-5, and include a cruise night, individual class get togethers, fireworks and more.   • City approves permit for cell phone tower

    The Kimball City Council approved a conditional use permit for a cell tower belonging to Viaero Wireless at its Feb. 3 meeting. A public hearing was held before the council approved the request for a cell phone tower from Viaero Wireless. Viaero requested the tower after it identified a need for one in the area to increase its 4G capacity within the City of Kimball. Viaero will install a 60-foot tower on the property.     Cole Carey still is not sure who nominated him to be a youth delegate to the Washington Youth Summit on the Environment, but he is glad they did. Carey, a junior at Banner County High School, was one of 250 students selected nationwide to attend the summit June 28 through July 3 at George Mason University in Fairfax, Va.     Lyle L. Shaw, 86, of Dix, died at the Kimball County Manor on Friday, Feb. 6, 2015. Lyle LaVern Shaw was born in Sidney on March 2, 1928, the son of Lloyd and Hilma (Nelson) Shaw. He attended a one room school house in Kimball County and graduated from the Dix High School in 1942. He was drafted in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and served two years as a para-trooper in Kentucky. Lyle was married to Patricia Marie Kreuzburg in 1953.     Miriam Caroline (Leach) Brower, 108, of Arnold, went to be with her Lord Jesus on Feb. 4, 2015. Miriam was born Nov. 11, 1906, to John Robert Leach and Alice Marinda (Lawyer) Leach at Emmett, Idaho. Growing up, she lived with her parents and six brothers in Wyoming, Nebraska, and then South Dakota, where she graduated from high school. She then went to Dakota Wesleyan College in Mitchell, S.D., and after passing her teacher’s exam, began teaching school, until her marriage.     Gertrude M. Siebenaler, 91, of Kimball, died at the Kimball County Manor on Monday, Feb. 2, 2015. Gertrude Mae Siebenaler was born in Kimball on Aug. 26, 1923, the daughter of Lucien and Mary (Rall) Siebenaler. She attended country school in Kimball County. She would move with her family during the winters to Texas and help take care of their orchards, and she continued her schooling there.     The Kimball Ministerial Association’s Lenten luncheons will begin on Feb. 25. The lunches started in 1992 and have been held during the Lenten season ever since. These lunches are provided by the various churches of the ministerial association every Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. for five weeks during Lent. Following the lunch there is a short mediation presented by the hosting church’s pastor.     The birds of Kimball County will be highlighted during a six week series of Watchable Wildlife Tours sponsored by the Rocky Mountain Bird Observatory and the Kimball Area Tourism Department.     The Kimball school board approved bus repairs at its monthly meeting held Monday. The school bus in question is the large white one and sustained damage when it was run into the concrete base of a light pole. There is some damage to one of the front storage compartments, and as a result, paint damage as well. Due to the nature of the damage, the labor is going to be rather intense.     Kimball High freshman, Clay Keller, won the 132 pound championship at the SPVA Conference Wrestling Tournament held at Grant this past week. With the win Keller ran his season win-loss record to 24-3, the mark he will take into this week's district tournament being held at Mitchell.
