    The Kimball City Council reviewed the 2013-2014 city budget during their regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, April 21. Terry Galloway, of Almquist, Maltzahn, Galloway & Luth, CPA, presented the budget to council via telephone and outlined several positive aspects of the budget, but also defined a few areas for concern.     Fifth grade students from Mary Lynch Elementary School ventured over to the Kimball County Manor last Wednesday (April 22) to help plant trees for Earth Day.     The Friends of the Kimball Library's first-ever mystery murder dinner theater was a smashing success. The two-night fundraiser netted more than $1,350 to go to the library's carpet fund, said Kimball Public Library Director Jan Sears. "I think it went very well.   • Roadwork to begin Monday from Dix to Cheyenne County line

    Weather permitting, work is scheduled to begin the week of May 4 on US-30 from Dix east to the Cheyenne county line, according to the Nebraska Department of Roads. Paulsen, Inc., of Cozad, Nebraska, has the $2,766,948 contract for concrete repair, ADA sidewalk upgrades, milling and resurfacing work. The project will involve removal of four inches of asphalt by cold milling and replacing it with new asphalt.     The Kimball City Council included the city’s waterworks plant and water system in the Combined Utilities Revenue and Refunding Bonds (Series 2013) at its regularly scheduled meeting held April 21.     The Kimball Public Library was one of 10 in Nebraska that received a boost in the form of grants from the Kreutz Bennett Donor-Advised Fund. The library received $5,000 toward its carpet fund and received another $2,7000 for the MakerCamp.     Tyson Dahlgrin won the 300 meter hurdles and finished second in the 110 meter hurdles to lead Banner County at last Friday's meet at Morrill.
