    More details are emerging regarding a 23-year-old Kimball man who faces class 1B felony charges after an infant died at Denver Children’s Hospital. Alexander J. Romero, the father, was initially arrested April 2 on lesser charges, but additional charges were dependant on the fate of the victim.     Work on Kimball’s underpass continues Since construction began April 1, crews completed removal of old facilities along the east side of the roadway and began work to build the reinforced concrete retaining wall that will parallel the roadway behind the existing back of the curb. “The latest winter weather shut down the project for a few days, but crews were able to resume work on the retaining wall, backfill with earth and install the drainage facilities that will be necessary to carry stormwater away from the project once complete,” said...

    Jane M. Quinette, 85, died peacefully on March 29th, 2019, in Denver, Colorado. Jane was born June 18th, 1933, in San Francisco, California. She was the daughter of Paul and Luella Mockett and grew up in Sausalito, California, with her two younger brothers, Paul and John. The family moved to Kimball, Nebraska, when she was 14. She graduated from University of Denver in 1956 with a degree in journalism. Her lifelong connection to the university led to the establishment of a scholarship, and...

    The Dalles, Ore., is a world away from Kimball, but professional bowler Greg McDaniel made the move from there to Kimball. In August 2015, McDaniel purchased the local bowling alley, the Kim Bowl. He has spruced up the bowling alley by re-carpeting, painting, refurbishing the lockers and updating the mechanics.     The Kimball high boys golf team got the season underway at the Mitchell Invitational Tournament on April 9 and finished third in the team standings with two individuals medal winners. Alliance won the team title with 328 strokes, followed by Scottsbluff with 338, Kimball 347, Mitchell 357, Bridgeport 365, Morrill 370, Chadron 378, Garden County 414, Sidney 432 and Bayard 440.
