A team from the 90th Explosive Ordnance Disposal flight assigned to F.E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyoming, was deployed to this area to conduct a series of controlled detonations on Tuesday, April 12, to render the scene of a totaled Humvee safe following a fire while the vehicle was transiting Highway 71 near Kimball on April 11. Update from the 90th Missile Wing public affairs: On April 15, the area of Nebraska Highway 71 near Kimball where a U.S. Air Force Humvee burned has been determined clear and safe by 90th Missile Wing Explosive Ordnance Disposal personnel. Airmen from the 90th Logistics Readiness Squadron have worked with personnel on scene to safely remove the burned vehicle from the roadway, securing it to a transport vehicle. The Kimball School Board approved the contract for Amanda Culek as the Mary Lynch principal and Special Services Director on Monday night at their regular meeting. Vehicles navigate the corner of Third and Chestnut streets in Kimball during the power outage Monday, April 11. Stop signs replaced traffic lights at Kimball's busiest intersection, which Western Area Power Administration (WAPA) scheduled for service work. The outage had been announced to last two hours from 8 to 10 a.m., but it lasted about 4 hours and 10 minutes from 9:18 a.m. to 1:28 p.m. The Observer left a message with WAPA seeking comment. Dr. Karla Wilke, assistant professor of animal science at the University of Nebraska Panhandle Research and Extension Center in Scottsbluff, shared her thoughts and information on avian influenza. A backyard flock in Scotts Bluff County became infected with avian influenza and the chickens and waterfowl had to be killed and incinerated. Joel E. Linn, 74, died at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center on March 23, 2022. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life is being planned for later in May in Kimball. The Kimball Cobras Trampoline and Tumbling team members showed off their skills at the State meet at WNCC in Scottsbluff on April 2. And show off they did with four young ladies winning State Championship in their division.
