Reasons for the demise of Kimball’s Shopko Hometown store extend far beyond the local store’s business performance alone. “It’s a company issue,” Kimball City Administrator Dan Dean told the Observer on Tuesday. The first event on Kimball’s Spring Sport season has come and gone with the Longhorns cancelling out of the Chadron State College Indoor Track and Field Meet this past Saturday because of the weather and road conditions. The 2018-19 Kimball High Boys Basketball team had a hard time securing wins this past season, ending up with seven wins and 14 losses. It wasn't because of lack of effort as the Longhorns played hard each time out, but oftentimes the shots just didn't fall, and there were too many miscues, especially in the closing minutes of games. Yet another big weekend of youth wrestling wrapped up Sunday afternoon, March 17. The Nebraska USA State Tournament was held in Grand Island with nearly 200 teams in the state competing for titles.
