    Can you hear me now? Good. Cell phone service should soon improve throughout the area as Verizon’s plans to build a tower east of Kimball has met final approval. The city council unanimously approved a conditional use permit for the tower to be placed in the corner of Mike Reuter’s pivot, just over 170 feet from U.S. Hwy. 30 east of Kimball.     Family Nature Night, held Monday at the Kimball Event Center, included many stations where children could check out wildlife of various kinds first-hand. One station included live snakes, turtles, frogs and a salamander. Other stations included animal skins and skeletons of various types, feathers, imprinting, seed balls and more.     The City of Kimball approved funding for the Kimball Banner County Chamber of Commerce and a KENO grant for the Kimball Lions Club at the regularly scheduled city council meeting on March 3. The city council voted to approve $450 each month to the chamber for additional part-time help. Josh Enevoldsen, president of the chamber, sought the monthly support to allow for additional help.     The Kimball County School Board approved various requests for spending at its regularly scheduled meeting held Monday night. Food Service Director Danessa Terrill may get the go-ahead to purchase steam tables for the food serve program due to her team’s hard work.     The Kimball Lions Club will host a 9-pin, no tap bowling tournament with singles and doubles play over two weekends in March. The tournament will be held at Kim Bowl, located at 208 S.   • City seeks input on housing study, comprehensive plan

    The City of Kimball’s Planning Commission and Economic Development are working on a new comprehensive plan and housing study. Using this study, the City of Kimball can properly plan for future growth. This is not an endeavor the city can do alone, said Economic Development Director Wilson Bowling.     The Kimball Area Foundation is an affiliated fund of the Nebraska Community Foundation. Both foundations were created to assist communities with needs in the areas of economic development and financial assistance among other things.     More than 125 students from across the Panhandle competed at the Minuteman Activities Conference speech contest held at Minatare. Schools that competed included Banner County, Bayard, Creek Valley, Garden County, Leyton, Minatare, Potter-Dix and South Platte.
