More than 100 people of all ages attended the celebration including a couple from Colorado who came to get their marriage license and stayed for the party because the groom is originally from Grand Island. One Kimball County youth chosen as a finalist in the National American Miss Nebraska Pageant. Kyla Ramsey, 11, of Dix will travel this month to Omaha to compete in the pre-teen division of the pageant, according to a recent news release. Kyla, the daughter of Crystal Ramsey, has been an active participant in youth basketball, junior cheer, Destination Imagination and 4-H in the Colts and Fillies group. I’m a little frustrated by all the negativity through social media lately. No, it’s not just what’s going on with the ambulance or the Sheriff’s Office. Kimball City Council members reviewed the status of six properties owned by the City of Kimball during the recent Kimball City Council meeting, on Feb. 21. Each of these properties have been used in the past for a variety of purposes and may be used or sold in a variety of ways. Since 1996 the Community Gardens area, located on East 7th Street, were once used as a place for several families to use to grow vegetable gardens. Daniel Elston Kinnison, 93 of Kimball, Nebraska died Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at the Kimball County Manor. Cremation has been held and his memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 9, at 2 pm at Trinity United Methodist Church with Pastor Carla Gunn officiating. Western Nebraska didn’t fare so well at the Nebraska State Girl’s Basketball Tournament, with none of our teams getting past the first round. I am speaking of Mitchell, Sidney and Potter-Dix. Sidney came the closest, losing by just four points, but none-the-less, all of them had excellent seasons and we salute them for getting that far.
