When flying into Kimball, pilots will be navigated by new LED lighting along with some new systems put in place. A lighting project was completed at the Kimball Municipal Airport in December. Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff announced Tuesday, Jan. 29, that it was temporarily limiting visitor access due to widespread respiratory illness throughout the region. According to the Nebraska state office, the FSA has been hard at work since returning and extending deadlines for agricultural programs. Mary Ann Brothers, 78, of Dix, died at her home in Dix on Wednesday, January 23, 2019. The family was present at the funeral home on Saturday from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m. to greet friends. Kimball’s Mike Daum had another big week of basketball as he led his South Dakota State team to wins over North Dakota State and the Omaha Mavericks. His Jackrabbitts won over North Dakota State, 87-69, and Mike had 30 points, shooting 11/15 from the field and 4/6 on 3 pointers, plus 4/5 at the foul line, and he had 17 rebounds. A disappointing Friday night loss on the road at Sutherland, and a very satisfying win at home Saturday night over visiting North Platte St Pats. That was the weekend story for the Kimball High boys. A split weekend for the Kimball High girls as they won big at Sutherland on Friday night, but lost like every other team has done to North Platte St. Pats on Saturday. The Lady Longhorns are still hovering around the .500 mark with their 7 win, 8 loss record. The Kimball girls had no trouble at Sutherland, bringing home a 54-21 victory. It was another long weekend for the local wrestlers as they made the trip to North Platte this past weekend for the River Valley Ruckus Tournament. Four of Kimball's wrestlers were picked for dual teams outside the area, as was one wrestler from the Tri-State Grapplers. Kimball had four of its five wrestlers earn places at the Mitchell Tournament this past week and finished in sixth place in the field of 12 teams with 50 team points. Jordan Cluff at 113 pounds had the highest finish, placing runner-up with two wins by fall before losing to state ranked Murillo of Morrill 7-1 in the championship match.
