    Veteran's, friends, family, students, and staff filled the High School auditorium Wednesday, Nov. 8 for the annual Veteran's Day Program put on by the Kimball High Civics Class. The morning began with the Color Guard displaying the Flag, as well as, the national anthem, followed by the fourth, fifth, and sixth grade classes singing songs for the Veteran's.     More than 200 people showed up to support the local VFW and Kimball Area Foundation this past Saturday night for the 1st Annual Veteran's Day Dinner & Dance. Dinner entertainment was featured by the group Yes Ma'am from Bayard, who performed WWII era music along with 50's & 60's classic hits.   • Mary Lynch students honor area veterans at flagpole

    More veterans arrived at the Mary Lynch Elementary School this year for the flag ceremony than in any year past, according to Elementary Principal Mike Mitchell. "I think it helped having it on a different day than the High School had their assembly, plus the weather was great," Mitchell said. "It was much more enjoyable for the kids.     There is a new face to the Kimball Police Department but not so new to the Kimball community. Mahlon Gingerich, grew up in Dix, working with his father, Sam, in the tree business. During high school Gingerich attended and played football for Potter-Dix. Graduating in 2014 he decided to join the Kimball Ambulance Service, the Dix Volunteer Fire Department, as well the Army National Guard, he attended basic training that same year. The crew includes volunteers from the Kimball School District, Potter-Dix School District, Kimball County Sheriff's Office, Kimball Police Department, Kimball Ambulance crew, Dix First Responders, Bushnell Fire Department, Kimball Fire Department and the Nebraska State Patrol.     Some interest has been shown in a local GED course through Western Nebraska Community College and Panhandle Health Group. According to PHG Peer Educator Liz Williams, consumers have asked about a local course, but none are available.     The Kimball County Manor has a NuStep bicycle in their restorative program for residents to use for exercise. Two KCM residents have kept track of their progress across the state using a map and logging their miles.
