    History was made last November in Kimball County when Daria Anderson-Faden became the first-ever female to be elected county commissioner here. She was recently sworn into office. Anderson-Faden is a teacher at Potter-Dix High School. She will retire from the school in May. She grew up in Kimball, first attending school here when she was in the second grade.     The Kimball Public School board of education heard various updates on students’ accomplishments at its Jan. 12 meeting. Each board of education meeting reserves a time slot on the agenda to review what is called, “Pride in Excellence.” This agenda item allows students and teachers to inform the board of education what they have been doing to better the school and the community.     After two years, the Kimball Banner County Chamber of Commerce has hired a new chamber director. Larissa Binod is the newly hired chamber director, and will be in the chamber office from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday. "We've been without a director for about two years.     The Kimball High wrestlers hosted Lingle and Southeast this past week and had perhaps their best outing of the season to date according to coach Wade Brashear. Kimball won over Lingle 28-18 and lost to Southeast 36-23, although they actually won in head-to-head matches. Southeast also won over Lingle 51-17.     A good week of basketball for the Kimball High girls as they went 3-0 in this time frame and ran their season record to 8-4. It started on Tuesday of last week in a home game for the Lady Longhorns hosting D-l Potter-Dix and winning out 52-29. On Friday night at Bridgeport they came out on top 58-46, and at Rushville on Saturday they prevailed 83-57 in a marathon contest that went on forever.     The Potter-Dix boys basketball team opened the Minuteman Activities Conference Tournament on Tuesday with a 53-39 win at Garden County, while the Banner County boys fell in their opening round game by a 56-39 score at Bayard.     Garrett Grubbs took third place in the 145 weight class and Brandon Blickensderfer finished fourth in the 106 weight class at the Cheyenne East JV Invitational held Saturday.
