Kimball Cross Country runner places in the past two meets

Cross Country runners had their first taste of the 2018 season with their first meet, Thursday August 23 in Scottsbluff.

Your Kimball Junior High Boys were led by Braylon Miller with a time of 15:47 followed by Xavier Thomas-Lewis with a 16:01, Joseph Bremer with a 16:36, Joey Johnson with a time of 17:56 and Shane Zoppelli with a time of 23:49.

Shannen Marks ran a 23:47 for the Junior High Girls.

According to Coach Tiffany Johnson no of these runners placed with their times but is proud of how they competed for their first meet.

“Xavier ran last year, but the rest of these kiddos are in 7th grade and haven’t competed in a cross country meet before and didn’t really know what to expect.”

For the High School Boys Zachery Wagner ran a 19:49, followed by Brady Kilgore with a 23:10, Cole Henton with a 23:13 and Stephen Bateman with a time of 29:36.

“It is great to have Zachery back after being unable to run last year due to a broken leg, and Cole ran two and a half minutes faster in his first meet of the season than last year,” Johnson said.

Placing the top 25 at this meet Chantel Malson ran a 23:38 finishing 18th, and Brandi Councilman ran a 26.51 which is three minutes faster than last year.

Kimball Cross Country attended their second meet of the year last Friday, August 31 in Gering.

“It was really hot outside and this course is very challenging with a lot of hills, we are very proud of how well all of the kids ran and the effort they gave.”

For the Junior High Boys it was Matthew Johnson with a time of 13:52, James McGinnis with a time of 14:36, Joseph Bremer ran a 14:37, Braylon Miller with a 15:40, Xavier Thomas-Lewis with a 15:57, Landon Norberg with a 19:20, Joey Johnson with a 19:23, and Shane Zoppelli with a time of 24.25.

Shannen Marks ran a 19:36 for Junior High Girls.

High School Boys Junior Varsity, Conor Cluff ran a fast time to lead the Kimball youngsters with a 23:37, Draven Vickery with a 27:19, Jordan Cluff ran a 28:02, and Stephan Bateman with a 31:07.

Varsity Boys was Zachery Wagner, with a 19:22 placing 7th, Thomas Lenzen with a 22:19, Brady Kilgore with a 24:44 and Cole Henton with a 26:21.

Chantel Malson was on top again for the Kimball Girls Varsity running a 24:14, placing 9th. According to Johnson they ran in “small school varsity” but in the “large school varsity” she would have placed 4th.

Anabela Whitehead ran a 28.54, and Maddison Marryfield with a 31:41.

You can catch your Kimball Cross County team at home tomorrow, Friday September 7, at the Four Winds Golf Course, Junior High runners begin at 1p.m.
