Has Kimball gone to the cats?

Stray cats have wreaked havoc in communities across the nation and Kimball is no exception. A public outcry for a solution is being addressed by the City of Kimball, though there are no regulations or ordinances pertaining to cats.

According to Community Service Officer Tami Rutt, the City of Kimball has two live traps available for residents to check out, free of charge, for 10-day periods. Cats that are trapped can be taken to willing land owners outside of city limits who may want extra barn cats to curtail rodent activity.

With this current step forward to address the feral cat population, some citizens may be concerned for pets that are allowed to roam outdoors.

Rutt followed up with some suggestions for citizens with indoor/outdoor cats who may be concerned that their pet could be trapped and relocated accidentally.

If pets are wearing collars and tags, anyone who may catch it can release it right away so it can return home.

Rutt would like to add that pet owners should have cats spayed or neutered, as well as, fully vaccinated and should be respectful of neighbors yards, building and gardens when allowing pets to roam outdoors.
