Velma E. Foster

Velma Evelyn Foster went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 29, 2018 after a brief illness at the home of her sister, Esther Walker, in Castle Rock. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Foster, her parents, Henry and Annis Felkins, 5 brothers and 2 sisters.

Velma was born April 22, 1930 in Osage County, Ralston, Oklahoma to Henry Franklin and Annis (Clinkenbeard) Felkins. She was the 8th sibling of 13. Her family used Evelyn as her name throughout her life.

At the age of 13, she moved with her large family to Kiowa, CO, then later to Elizabeth, CO where she graduated from high school. She attended college briefly in Greely, CO, but had to withdraw due to financial needs. She was working hard in Denver when she decided to enroll in the Bible Institute of Los Angeles (Biola) at La Mirada, CA. Being as independent as always, she obtained her teaching degree while working part-time and being away from family. She taught grade school at Los Neitas School in Whittier, CA until her retirement in 1987.

She remained in California until reuniting with her 1st love, Robert Foster, at a class reunion in Elizabeth, CO. They were married in 1996 and resided in Grand Junction and Eckert until Robert's death in 2002.

In 2005, Evelyn moved to Kimball, NE to assist with the care of a failing brother and to be closer to family. Although Kimball was her residence, she made many visits to CO to see sisters and friends. During an extended stay in Castle Rock, she attended Cornerstone Presbyterian Church where she made many good friends.

Evelyn loved to paint with oils, sew, knit and crochet. She also enjoyed playing the piano and singing for the Lord. Using her special gift of helping, she was able to minister to many people in her life.

Evelyn was loved and her light will be missed.
