Kiwanis considers Kimball's potential

A new addition to the community may be on its way to Kimball sooner than you think.

A meeting was held last Wednesday night at the WindBreak Bar and Grill to consider bringing a Kiwanis Club to town.

“Kiwanis brings the world together – one community at a time.” Today Kiwanis stands with more than 600,000 members in more than 80 countries. “Each community has different needs, and Kiwanis empowers members to pursue creative ways to serve the needs of children through local service projects and fundraising,” according to the official Kiwanis website.

5,001 clubs alone in North America with 141,925 members this is a great opportunity to become more active in our community and start building ideas to bring more to Kimball for the younger generation.

Thoughts of bringing Kiwanis to Kimball were impactful, from being able to send more kids home with food for the weekend, to mentoring programs throughout the schools.

Derek Manley of the Kiwanis program of Scottsbluff, talked a little what great things Kimball could accomplish with in becoming a new club, meaning Kimball would be able to do whatever they wanted, setting up the club and how they operate to what the members wanted, obviously within the ground rules.

To start a new club there is a minimum of 15 members, their were nine who attended the meeting and are planning on joining, the hope was to find a few more to at least be able to begin.
