Potter-Dix Girls Avenge Lone Loss to Kimball

The Potter-Dix girls won out over Kimball 45-32 on their home court and with the win avenged their only loss on the season while running their record to 8-1 In the opening game of the season at the Kimball 4-team tournament, Kimball had defeated the Class D-2 Lady Coyotes 66-47, but that was when the Lady Longhorns were in full force and before the injuries started piling up and Coach Chauncey Pedersen saw his hopes for a very successful winning season start to go out the window.

Led by a very talented trio of seniors, the Lady Coyotes took control from the start and ran out to a 16-3 first quarter lead with Audrey Juelfs getting the opening basket off the tip. At half-time, they had increased their lead to 28-12. Kimball battled hard to actually outscore their hosts 20-to 17 in the second half, but it was a case of too little, too late.

Kimball senior, Justine Heeg led the come back attempt for Kimball with 12 of her team high 17 points scored in the second half. She nailed 3 treys on the night and led Kimball in rebounds with 6. Madison Wynne, Carli Wurdeman and Megan Spicer all ended with 4 points and Sydney Biesecker hit a trey for her 3 points.

Audrey Juelfs led the winners with 16 points, going 3/4 at the foul line and hitting a trey. Payge Hoffman tallied 11 points with 1 trey and was 7/11 at the foul line. Trinity Langley gave the Lady Coyotes 3 in double figure scoring with her 10 points. Freshman Kelsey Hoffman added 5 points and Brooke Moench 3. Other stat leaders showed Juelfs with 13 rebounds and 6 assists. Juelfs and Hoffman had 5 steals each. Langley led the team in blocks with 5, had 6 rebounds and 4 assists. The Potter-Dix girls added more wins to their season over the weekend and are enjoying their top ranking in Class D-2.

In a two quarter JV game, Kimball won out 32-19. Scoring for Kimball were Jenna Greenwood and lacey Klinkhammer with 8 each, Emma Martin 5, Megan Spicer 5, Brooklin Golding 4 and Raven Johnson 2.

Kelsey Hoffman was high for Potter-Dix with 10, Makayla Mertz ha 7, Fedalina Schuessler 1 and Mikayla Lee 1.
