Western Nebraska Observer - Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First

Jock Talk

November 9, 2017

The Western Trails Conference Coaches gathered this past Sunday to make their selections for this year’s All Conference Volleyball and Football Teams. Kimball was represented by 4 players on the All Conference Team with Hannah Biesecker and Justine Heeg named to the All Converence Volleyball Team and juniors Kate Reader and Madison Wynne given Honorable Mention.

Zane Anthony, a junior, was Kimball’s honored on the All Conference Football Team with senior Paycen Harroun and junior Corey Travis named Honorable Mention.

The Winter Sports practice for Kimball High will begin this Monday, November 13th, which includes both boys and girls basketball and wrestling.

In the meantime, you fans can watch the junior high athletes who will be the future stars at the high school level. The wrestlers will be at Hemingford today (Thursday) with action to begin at 12 noon. The girls basketball team will host Bridgeport (Monday) at 3 p.m. and go to Gering (Tuesday) for play at 4:30 p.m.

Not a lot of good things to report for you Bronco fans, or you Husker football fans. The Lady Husker Volleyball team is performing strong, like usual. Do you think coaching has anything to do with the difference in the Nebraska Volleyball and Football programs?

Did you get the chance to watch the Wyoming and CSU football game Saturday evening? I watched it from the warm spot in my recliner and was glad I didn’t have to sit out in that snow storm at Laramie, but it would have been an experience to enjoy and remember as the Cowboys won in an exciting finish in a field of snow. I am sure some of the loyal Wyo. fans from Kimball were there. Talk about good coaching, I would take Coach Bohl in a heartbeat. He is proven, as his coaching record shows.
