VSO changes made

Kimball County Commissioners accepted the resignation of Sheana Hendrickson from the Kimball County Veteran’s Service Office at their regular meeting, Tuesday, Sept. 19.

With that resignation, VSO Bob Jenner will man the office Monday through Friday from 10 - 4 with lunch from 11:30-12:30 each day.

Jenner gave the monthly report at this meeting, including the number of Veteran visits, 80, through the month. The average time spent with each Veteran was three to five hours. According to Jenner some of the subjects covered are reimbursement for funeral expenses, claims for disability, VA benefits, getting to know veterans and their families, helping veterans with expenses if they are in need and locating resources for them. Other activities include working with the VFW and American Legion with the activities that are sponsored, budget, and recruiting new veterans.

Following Jenner, the Commissioners spoke with Christy Warner, Transit Administrator, who reported that in July and August there were 1,679 stops made, in July there were two out-of-town trips made, seven in August, and five in September as of Sept. 19.
