Roughing It

A lot like my last column I will repeat a similar set of life lessons that some people forget sometimes.

Respect, treat others the way youwant to be treated. Good sportsmanship, is when teammates, opponents, coaches, and officials treat each other with respect.

I spent a lot of time at the ball fields this past weekend, and let me tell you, there was a lot of unsportsmanlike conduct involved from a few different teams.

In my opinion, as well as many players I spoke with this last weekend, if you don’t like a call, then fine, make a comment or try to make your point and then get on with it. If you don’t like how things are going try something to change it. Not everything is the umpires fault.

My husband and I played for Engstrom Farms this season, we won one game this season, and honestly our teammates haven’t been even as close as upset about calls or what-have-you, as some teams were this last weekend.

This is Kimball Co-Ed Softball, it is for fun. If you don’t like the rules, calls, or the people, don’t play.

We need to be teaching our children respect, respect by how we treat people and the respect we show to ourselves.
