Kimball's runner was safe as he slid into second base over the top of a Bridgeport defender in Thursday night's Legion Baseball game at Kimball. The Kimball team lost both games, but continues to improve each week.
Kimball's Legion players have improved hitting and fielding, and have been working on pitching during practices.
As Kimball took the field at home Thursday, June 1, the young Legion players didn't seem quite ready for their first game against Bridgeport. Kimball had the better bats than Bridgeport and played good defense but when it came to pitching, the local athletes struggled to find a good rhythm. Kimball pitchers combined to walk and hit 17 Bridgeport batters in the first game alone.
Again the hitting for Kimball was on point, Ethan Ratzlaff was two for three with two RBIs, Colton Mielke was one of three, also with two RBIs, as well as, two runs scored. Brady Kilgore and Ethan Bemis added two runs each to the Kimball board.

In the second game of Thursday's double-header Kimball kept the good momentum at bat, and the pitching was stronger, however the defense took a downswing.
Mielke was two for two, Kilgore and Brenden Walker each scored two runs.

Kimball's Legion baseball team followed their double header on home turf with a game in Chadron the next day, Friday, June 2.
Pitching for Kimball looked a lot better than the night before and only gave up three earned runs, however there were some key errors according to coach Bernie Walker. What sealed the game was Chadron struck out just twice compared to Kimball's 11.

Looking ahead, Kimball will be in Gering on Thursday, June 8, to play a double header at 5 and 7 and will return for the Gering Tournament on Saturday, June 10. Kimball's team is scheduled to face Gering at 10:30 that morning followed by Buckley at 1. The local players will finish out the weekend tournament on Sunday, June 11, against Fort Morgan.
