Commissioners hear a new county road request

County road maintenance is a long standing concern for Kristopher Nitz, a resident who lives on County Road 63.

Nitz addressed the Kimball County Board of Commissioners at their May 16 meeting regarding the condition of the road.

Nitz has lived on Rd 63 for six years and said the maintenance of the road is lacking and has been for a long time. He has contacted Dave Hottell, County Highway Superintendent, for the last year questioning when the County plans to gravel it.

Nitz said that since he has lived on the county road, six years, the road has not had any sand gravel on it.

“My question to the board is what are we doing to make sure these roads are maintained?” Nitz asked.

The answer was short and to the point, the board directed Hottell to check these roads out and do what needs to be done.

Following the directive, the board approved the resolution of the name change of County Rd 59 to Singleton Rd., the county road that dead ends at Joe SIngletons’s property.

The board also made a motion to replace the carpet with tile in the booking area for future sanitary issues that arise.
