Kimball Junior High boys season underway

The Kimball Junior High boy’s basketball season is underway, and coach Dane Wurdeman says, “Our numbers are low this season but we like the group of young men we are working with.”

Kimball opened with Burns on Jan. 17 with the eighth grade boys wining 23-17. Javin Coyle had 16 points, Christian Allen-Van Pelt three, Cole Henton and Ethan Ratzlaff two each. The Kimball seventh grade lost 20-6 with Thomas Muldoon scoring four and Damien Wolven two.

In a combined B-game, Burns won 17-14. Zander Hottell and Jesse Heidi had four each, Cole Heim, Azeal Flores and Connor Glanz two each.

On Jan. 19 Kimball played Morrill losing the 8-A game with Mitchell 26-24 with Coyle high with 13, Ratzlaff eight, Allen-Van Pelt two and Henton one. The seventh grade team lost to Mitchell 47-16 with Muldoon high with eight, Blake McKenzie four, Glanz three and Flores one.

In a game at Gering the 8-A team won 24-8 with Jared Barnes high with 11, Coyle had eight, Allen-Van Pelt and Henton two each and Ratzlaff one. Gering won the seventh grade game 43-24 with Muldoon scoring 15, Wolven five and Glanz four. Gering also won a mixture of B-game players 23-19 with Koby Russie and Hottell with seven each, Chris Barker three and Heidi two.

Kimball was at Bridgeport Monday and played in the Morrill Tournament over the weekend. They are at Sidney this evening (Thursday) and play at Pine Bluffs on Valentine’s Day (Tuesday).
