Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First

Jock Talk

It’s SPVA week for the Kimball High basketball team and Kimball fans lucked out in that they didn’t have to travel for first round play as both the Kimball girls and boys were first round hosts. There was a delay in the boy’s game which was supposed to have been played this past Monday night, but due to the ice storms east of us, their game with Chase County was moved back one day, to Tuesday, the same night the Kimball girls hosted Bridgeport. There you go, a double header at home. After the first round play, all the remaining contests will be held at the North Platte Community Mid Plains College site. Play continues today (Thursday) through Saturday.

--------------------------------There are other activities for you Kimball fans as well including the junior high boys basketball game this afternoon (Thursday) with Morrill coming to town for games starting at 3 p.m. They play again Monday with Mitchell coming to town for 3 p.m. games. The Kimball freshmen boys are scheduled to play at Burns this coming Monday at 4 p.m.

On Tuesday, Jan. 24, the Kimball High girls only will travel to Mitchell for JV and varsity games beginning at 5 p.m.

The Kimball High wrestlers will be in action at Lingle this weekend with the school calendar showing a 9 a.m. start time on Saturday. This schedule should keep you Kimball sports fans entertained.

Another Mike Daum update for you again this week. Wish I could report more wins for his South Dakota State University team, but they lost this past week to Oral Roberts 94-88. Big Mike did his job, scoring 32 points along with six rebounds and three assists.
